The Edmonton Oilers will once again attempt to stave off elimination as they face the Florida Panthers, who can win their first Stanley Cup, on Tuesday at Amerant Bank Arena. We're here to share our Stanley Cup odds series, make an Oilers-Panthers Game 5 prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Oilers destroyed the Panthers 8-1 in Game 4 to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Panthers. Let's look at everything they did to get themselves to a Game 5.

Mattias Janmark started things off with a shorthanded goal on a good bounce to put the Oilers up early. Then, Janmark came off a nice pass from Matias Ekholm and then found Adam Henrique for a shot in front of the net to take a 2-0 lead.

But the Panthers battled back when Vladimir Tarasenko got one in with a beautiful tip. However, the Oilers would not collapse as Dylan Holloway came off a ridiculous pass from Leon Draisaitl to zing it past Sergei Bobrovsky to make it 3-1.

Connor McDavid did not want to give the Panthers any hope, so he scored just over a minute into the second. Later, Darnell Nurse added a goal, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tallied a powerplay goal to put this thing out of reach.

Why The Oilers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Oilers looked absolutely dead after the first two games. In fact, they failed to cover the spread in either road game. Things got progressively worse in Game 3 when they fell behind 4-1 before barely falling short. However, things finally worked in their favor in Game 4 as they tallied eight goals, which was more than the first three games combined. After failing to get past Bobrovsky over the first three games, they found a way to solve him.

It helped that Edmonton won 53 percent of its faceoffs. Likewise, the Oilers pelted the Panthers with 35 shots. Edmonton also got a remarkable six power-play chances. Ultimately, they went 1 for 6 on the extra-man attack.

McDavid and Draisaitl finally found their footing and helped charge the Oilers. But it was not just them doing the work. No, the Oilers got some great production from the bottom two lines. It helped relieve the pressure off of the top scorers on the team. Furthermore, it helped give the entire team some momentum they could build on.

But the defense was also extraordinary in this game. After allowing a combined 11 goals over three games, the defense allowed just one. Goalie Stuart Skinner was masterful, stopping 32 shots and allowing just one to trickle past him. While the Oilers did allow many shots, they were better at the type of shots that came through.

The Oilers will cover the spread if they can dominate the faceoff circle and continue pelting Bobrovsky with shots. Then, their defense must avoid mistakes and stop Florida's best players.

Why The Panthers Will Cover The Spread/Win

Speaking of best players, it was not a good day for the best of the Panthers. Sadly, Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Carter Verhaeghe, and Sam Reinhart all struggled, with none of them getting on the stat sheet. It was a very discouraging night for a team that had been firing on all cylinders throughout the series.

But it was not as if they were not shooting. As explained before, they fired 33 shots at Skinner. But Edmonton's goalie had a night to remember as he did everything in his power to keep his team alive. Somehow, the Panthers could not even take advantage of a five-minute major in the first period. Florida went 0 for 4 on the powerplay and allowed a shorthanded goal. That is sloppy hockey. Therefore, they cannot do that if they want to finish off the Oilers.

The defense was awful. Yes, Bobrovsky struggled but he had given them everything over the first three games. After Bobrovsky did so well that he might have been considered the Conn Smythe Trophy winner, he fell down to Earth. He can still win it. However, he needs to do much better in Game 5, and the defense must excel.

The Panthers will cover the spread if they can generate some offense and get good shots. Then, the defense and Bobrovsky must bounce back.

Final Oilers-Panthers Prediction & Pick

The Oilers fought for their lives to stay alive. While the Panthers may end up winning the Stanley Cup in front of their fans, it will not be the cakewalk it was in the first two games. When a team is desperate, they will do anything to avoid going down. Expect the Oilers to show some fight and do everything in their power to stay alive. Consequently, the Panthers may end up hoisting Lord Stanley's Cup, but the Oilers will cover the spread.
