The Portland Trail Blazers desperately need a dynamic wing that can be a third option on offense behind star guards Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, respectively, and play high-level defense as well.

At this stage of his career, Carmelo Anthony isn't quick enough to stay in front of all these elite small forwards who are in the NBA.

Ultimately, the Blazers would be better suited to bring Anthony off the bench so the future Hall of Famer can play against reserves and dominate. Melo appeared in 50 games for the Blazers this season. He averaged 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 42.6 percent from the field.

Portland will have to decide if they want to bring Anthony back, as he becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

The Blazers should not only re-sign Anthony but also consider trading for Orlando Magic small forward Terrence Ross. He's the perfect 3-and-D wing Portland needs next to Lillard and McCollum. Ross is also one of the most athletic players in the game and can jump out of the gym. The more athletes the Blazers have to run in transition, the better.

With the Magic this season, Ross averaged 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 40.7 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from beyond the arc and 84.5 percent from the free-throw line. That is the type of production the Blazers would love to have in the starting lineup, especially since the team will have Anthony to carry the load for the bench if Portland makes the right move and re-signs him on a cheap one-year deal.

Ross is a career 37.1 percent shooter from beyond the arc. He can catch fire in a hurry and he's like Lillard in the sense that he's not afraid to shoot it from way outside the 3-point line. In 63 games for the Magic this season, the 29-year-old hit 162 shots from deep.

Ross was born in Portland, Oregon. It would be like a dream come true for him if he was able to play for the Blazers. Portland could throw out a starting lineup of Lillard, McCollum, Ross, Trevor Ariza and Jusuf Nurkic.
