What made this even more thrilling was the number of fans. After all, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 event was run without any fans in attendance. On Sunday, over 100,000 flocked in to see the race and had a ton of enjoyment in the process.

Foyt, Al Unser Sr. and Rick Mears as four-time winners and is the first to do so since 1991. Castroneves also won in 2001, 2002, and 2009, so waiting 12 years for another victory must have been tough as the 46-year-old defied the odds.
The Indy 500 was also the largest sporting event with fans since the pandemic, and it makes everybody realize that things should be back to normal soon.
Celebrate this one, Helio Castroneves.
