The long wait is over: JJ Redick will make his official debut for the Dallas Mavericks against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

Redick, who was acquired by the Mavs alongside Nicolo Melli from the New Orleans Pelicans at the trade deadline, has been sidelined as he recovers from a heel injury. He underwent a non-surgical procedure last March, which has kept him out for 18 games with the Pels before being sent away to the Big D.

For what it's worth, JJ Redick has hinted recently that he would be able to join the Mavs sooner rather than later. Why he missed Sunday's game against the San Antonio Spurs, he's made available in time to face his former team in the Sixers.

As expected, though, Redick will be limited in his first game back since early March. Per Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News, Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle see Redick playing at least 10 to 15 minutes against the Sixers–depending on his conditioning.

With Kristaps Porzingis out due to injury management, having abled bodies certainly helps the Mavs. Redick's shooting will also be beneficial for Dallas against the Sixers, especially since it is one of the things they are lacking since trading Seth Curry in the offseason.

In 31 games for the Pelicans this 2020-21 campaign, Redick put up 8.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He attempted 4.5 triples in those outings, making an average of 1.6 for a 36.4 percent shooting percentage. That numbers should increase, especially since Redick will be playing alongside Luka Doncic who attracts defenses and opens the floor for the rest of his Mavs teammates.
