Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook went off during his post-game press conference after a Philadelphia 76ers fan poured popcorn on him when he was heading to the locker room in Game 2 of the playoffs series.
Early in the fourth quarter of the contest, Westbrook was forced to leave due to an apparent ankle injury. As the team's medical staff escorted him to the locker room, a Sixers fan suddenlyâand seemingly intentionally given the timingâthrew popcorn on him. Russ couldn't hold back and wanted to confront the culprit before he was stopped by the staff and security nearby.
Sure enough, Westbrook was really angry about the incident and had some not-safe-for-work message to the Sixers fan who did the disrespectful act to him.
Article Continues BelowâTo be honest, this sh*t is getting out of hand, especially for me. The amount of disrespect, the amount of fans just doing whatever the f*ck they want to do. Itâs just out of pocket, man. Seriously,â the Wizards guard shared.

Russell Westbrook also sent a strong message to the NBA, making it clear that the league should take action regarding the incident and improve measures to protect players. After all, fans throwing random stuff at players should never happen at all, so there should be strict measures not just to punish perpetrators but also to prevent it overall.
Westbrook also got support from his Wizards head coach Scott Brooks who called for the fan to get banned, and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James who wants the NBA to release the video of the incident.
Westbrook is mad, and he has every right to be. Hopefully, the NBA resolves and issue soon and take appropriate action.
