We're back for another betting prediction and pick for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals during the 2024 NBA Playoffs. With the series tied at 2-2 and shifting back to Madison Square Garden, the Indiana Pacers will take on the New York Knicks for the most important game of this series. Check out our NBA odds series for our Pacers-Knicks Game 5 prediction and pick.

The Indiana Pacers have evened this series at two-all after defending their home court in two resounding wins. With injuries on New York's end, Indiana has been able to push the tempo at home and once again look like the same team that led the league in points and assists. With Game 5 looming, they have a chance to take their first lead in this series.

The New York Knicks failed to gain an all-important win on the road to widen the gap in this series and now they'll be pressed to shift momentum back in their favor. They've only dropped one game at home during these playoffs and they're hoping the New York faithful can will them to a close win once again.

Why The Pacers Could Cover The Spread/Win

The Indiana Pacers played exactly the way they needed to at home to break the spirit of this Knicks team. Riddled with injuries, the last thing the Knicks want to do is get out in transition and running with the Pacers. The Pacers have the highest-tempo offense in the league this year, postseason or regular season, and they're at their best pushing the ball up the floor. After a tough start to the series, Tyrese Haliburton has taken the role of their main scorer and has tallied 89 total points over the last three games. He's still making all the passes he needs to make, but his newfound aggression for cutting to the basket has really taken this Pacers team to a new gear.

In their two losses at MSG, the Pacers struggled to rebound the ball and stop the Knicks from scoring second-chance points. With the recent loss of Mitchell Robinson and OG Anunoby to injury, it puts a massive dent in the size within the paint for the Knicks. During the last two game, the Pacers actually out-rebounded the Knicks and it's becoming clear this series will be won from effort exerted on the glass. The Pacers have also been heating up from three, so expect them to continue shooting at a high clip during this one.

Why The Knicks Could Cover The Spread/Win

Jalen Brunson has been sensational all throughout the Playoffs for the Knicks, but it's clear the tough, physical games have begun to take a toll on him. Playing on a shaky foot, Brunson has been able to continue starting and contributing for his team, but they've been riddled with other injuries and it's becoming increasingly difficult for them to break the Pacers' defense. In order to have success in this series, the Knicks will have to slow the game down and run their half-court sets. Both Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart have played massive roles in the scoring and rebounding – look for them to find their rhythm at home once again if they can free themselves up for good looks.

It's still unclear whether OG Anunoby will return for Game 5, but it hasn't been looking good as he's struggling to get back to game speed. His absence is a huge blow on the defensive end, so players like Alec Burks will have to step-up and play hard on the defensive end of the floor. The Knicks have had the better bench throughout this series and they have a deeper team in terms of capable scorers. The defensive efforts from Isaiah Hartenstein will continue to be crucial in the Knicks controlling the paint at home.

Final Pacers-Knicks Prediction & Pick

Each game of this series has been decided by more than five points and it's clear the home teams have had the stern advantages here. The Knicks have been on fire at home during the Playoffs, but they seem to be a much more broken-down team than they were at the start of this series. OG Anunoby's availability may be the difference in them picking up the win and defending home court, but either way, they'll have to come up with tight defense and scoring without him.

The Pacers stand a great chance to win this game and with a tight betting spread, it's clear the momentum has shifted in their favor heading into this game. If they can get past the ruckus New York crowd and focus on hitting their shots in transition, they should be able to get the upset here.

For our prediction, however, we'll have to ride the New York Knicks to get the win at home. They're much better at slowing the pace down at MSG and the Pacers haven't shot very well in the building. I believe home-court advantage is the single most important factor of this series, so we'll ride the Knicks to get this win at home.
