After a successful individual campaign in the 2020 season, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is looking to spread the cheer to other people, particularly for business owners in his hometown of Chico, California. His $1 million donation will reportedly help 80 small businesses in the local area amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, via NFL‘s Ian Rapoport.

According to the official statement, the covered businesses will reportedly receive grants that will be used to help the owners cover rent for over three months via the Aaron Rodgers Small-Business COVID-19 Fund.

The Packers quarterback initially started the fund with a donation of $500,000 in early February but eventually decided to increase it by doubling his contribution to account for a total of $1 million. Rodgers bared that he wanted to uplift the local businessmen and inspire them to believe that there is an end to these tough times.

Unknown to many, it wasn't the first time that the three-time NFL MVP served as a good samaritan for his fellow Californians. Back in 2018, Aaron Rodgers already donated $1 million to aid in relief efforts after a campfire devastated Butte County.

Hopefully, the donation that he has put up will be able to go a long way for the businessmen and workers who are trying to get back on their feet. At the same time, here's to hoping that the charitable efforts made by Aaron Rodgers will get to inspire other athletes to positively use their platform in order to make a bigger impact in their respective communities, especially during these times.
