Aaron Rodgers has put himself in a position to be the league's MVP this season. The Green Bay Packers superstar has put up incredible numbers in his 16th year in the NFL and is poised to be in contention for his third MVP award.

With that said, Rodgers knows that the honor could be extremely special for him and his team.

“There’s not many guys who have won three, so that would definitely mean a lot,” Aaron Rodgers said Wednesday, via  Zach Kruse of Packers Wire (h/t to Yahoo).

Though the MVP title mainly goes to the league's best athlete, Rodgers also expressed his belief that the award should always be taken into context–meaning how valuable that person is to his team all-season long. It is something that the 37-year-old has definitely lived up to this year so far.

“I think it should live up to what it stands for as an acronym,” Rodgers added. “It’s that person who is most valuable to their team. I feel like that’s why I should be in the competition most years, and this year especially.”

The former Super Bowl MVP has led the Packers to a 10-3 record, and they're poised to claim their second consecutive NFC North title. He currently leads the league in total passing TDs (39) and holds the best pass rating at 119.7.

Right next to him is the 2018 league MVP and reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes has also had quite the 2020 as he currently leads the league in total passing yards with 4,208. The 25-year old has also led his team to a slightly better record compared to the Packers, with a league-best 12-1 record.

With three games to go in the regular season, the MVP race is neck and neck. Look for both these superstars to leave it all in the field.
