There have been a lot of rumors flying around regarding Aaron Rodgers' future with the Green Bay Packers. While head coach Matt LaFleur wants him to stay, Rodgers seems to want out. According to former Packers defensive back Charles Woodson, trading the quarterback would be best.

On Good Morning Football, Woodson said that if he was Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst, he would be “thinking about trading Aaron Rodgers.” Fox Sports writer Peter Schrager tweeted the quote Tuesday morning.

Woodson is very familiar with the Packers franchise and Rodgers. He spent a lot of his NFL career there, from 2006 to 2013. Rodgers has been the quarterback for Green Bay since the team selected him in the 2005 NFL Draft, which means that he worked with Woodson for seven seasons.

The Packers Hall of Famer has a solid point. According to Sports Illustrated, Rodgers takes up 22% of Green Bays' cap at $46.66 million. If the team trades him, it would create $19.82 in cap savings.

Rodgers just finished the second year of his four-year contract, which was signed in 2018 but began in 2020. The Packers and Rodgers renegotiated the deal to control cap space by turning his 2023 season into a “void year,” per Sporting News. He will not be a free agent until 2024.
