During the offseason, most NFL teams don't want players doing things that could potentially leave their players injured. When it comes to a charity softball game, it's low-impact enough that most teams are okay with players participating in it.

Unfortunately, Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews showed that there is still some risk involved as there is a chance for injury—some that even can be serious.

Matthews was playing pitcher in a charity softball game at Fox Cities Stadium when a line drive came back and smoked him right in the face.

He immediately left the field covering his face but it sounds like he is going to be okay. It has been reported that he probably has a broken nose, but DaVante Adams, who was also participating in the softball event, updated the crowd saying Matthews is going to be okay.

“I wanted to let everybody know Clay is all right,” Adams said. “He’s got a little boo-boo on his nose, but he’ll be all right. He’s a tough guy.”

The Packers need Matthews back as soon as possible, so hopefully, he can recover from this injury quickly.

Matthews, who has been with the Packers for 10 seasons is learning a new defensive system after Mike Pettine replaced Dom Capers during the offseason. Matthews is also in a contract year and the last few years he has slowed down a few steps, which means this is even a bigger year for him as he tries to earn his next contract.
