The Green Bay Packers had an unexpected participant at their practice Wednesday afternoon. According to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, offensive tackle David Bakhtiari joined the team on the practice field ahead of their Week 15 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Schneidman tweeted the news, including a short clip of Bakhtiari with his teammates.

As Schneidman points out, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur claimed that he wasn't expecting Bakhtiari at practice.

Bakhtiari hasn't played a single game for the Packers this season. Towards the end of last season, the OT suffered a season-ending ACL injury, landing him a spot on the Packers' Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. In the early stages of his recovery in January, Bakhtiari underwent surgery to reconstruct his ACL.

He was taken off of the PUP list on November 10, which made the Packers tackle eligible to play for the remainder of the season. Also in November, Bakhtiari underwent a less invasive, arthroscopic procedure on his knee.

As recently as last week, there was a possibility that Bakhtiari could make his Packers season debut. LaFleur said there's a chance he could be healthy enough to practice and possibly play Week 14 against the Chicago Bears. However, he was unable to practice and was ruled out the day before the matchup.

Since Bakhtiari hasn't practiced with the Packers since his second procedure in November, his return on Wednesday was a huge step in the right direction.
