The Green Bay Packers' already scary defense is about to get even better. As Aaron Rodgers and co. head into the playoffs as the NFC's top seed, they will be getting one of their best pass rushers back in the fold. Per Ian Rapoport, Za'Darius Smith has been cleared to return for the postseason after missing most of the season due to back surgery:

Smith is expected to return to practice with the Packers this week as Green Bay awaits their second-round opponent. The linebacker played just one game in 2021 before being shut down entirely with the back injury, but he's been one of the most effective players at his position across the last few years.

Between 2019 and 20′, Smith collected 60 quarterback hits and 26 sacks in a total of 32 contests. Considering the Packers have a first-round bye, it gives Smith even more time to get game-ready, which is huge.

Aside from his return, All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander is also expected to be ready for the playoffs, which is another massive boost to the defense. Green Bay is reaching full strength when it matters most and that is certainly a frightening scene for the rest of the NFL. Let's see if the Packers can reach their Super Bowl aspirations.
