With all these huge contracts being given out already this NFL offseason to quarterbacks, it shouldn't be much longer until Green Bay Packers superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers is back at the top of that list of highest-paid players in the league.

According to an article written by Packers beat writer Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Green Bay team president Mark Murphy said they were in the process of getting a contract extension done this offseason.

“We've had discussions with his representative,” Murphy told Demovsky at the NFL scouting combine. “I have a lot of confidence in Brian and Russ and Aaron as well. We want to create a win-win.”

Rodgers still has two years left on his deal that he signed back in 2013 worth $110 million, but the team wants to lock him up longterm again.

In the middle of last season, there was talk from members of the media like Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd that Rodgers should opt out of his contract with the Packers. However, Cowherd seemed to have misinterpreted Rodgers contract, according to an article written by Nolan Stracke of Packers Wire.

“To correct Cowherd, the potential out is for the team, not Rodgers. This means that if the Packers decided to cut Rodgers anytime after 2017, there would be no dead money on the Packers’ salary cap moving forward,” Stracke said. “Rodgers is otherwise under contract in Green Bay through the 2019 season. He has no player option.”

It is hard to put into words exactly how important Rodgers is to the Packers, considering he is the most efficient quarterback of all-time and arguably the most completely-rounded quarterback talent the NFL has ever seen.
