If you were hoping for a reunion between Jordy Nelson and the Green Bay Packers, you should probably temper your expectations.

Per Brian Jones of 247 Sports, it is unlikely the Packers will sign Nelson, citing that the main reason Green Bay originally cut him last year was due to the fact that he would not take a pay cut from his $9 million salary.

Nelson then went on to sign with the Oakland Raiders, where he played in 15 games and hauled in 63 receptions for 739 yards and three touchdowns. Given the fact that he will likely be too expensive for the Packers yet again, bringing him back a full year after releasing him just doesn't seem to make much sense.

The 33-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Kansas State University, was originally selected by Green Bay in the second round (36th pick overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

He had a quiet rookie campaign, catching 33 passes for 366 yards and a couple of scores, and the following year, he posted similar numbers, snaring 22 balls for 320 yards and two touchdowns.

Nelson did not really break out until his fourth year in the league, when he racked up 68 catches for 1,263 yards and 15 touchdowns. He took a bit of a step back the next season in 2012, totaling 49 receptions for 745 yards and seven scores, but he re-established himself as an elite wide out in 2013, bringing down 85 balls for 1,314 yards and eight scores.

The Manhattan, Ks. native then proceeded to make his first Pro Bowl in 2014, finishing with 98 catches for 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns.
