General manager Brian Gutekunst of the Green Bay Packers worked the trade phone lines in executing a deal on Tuesday that features a cornerback swap between Green Bay and the New York Giants.

Josh Jackson goes from the Packers to the Giants and cornerback Isaac Yiadom heads to Green Bay.

Green Bay selected Josh Jackson in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. And now three years later, he's heading to the Giants.

Jackson was torched in Green Bay's preseason opener on Saturday against the Houston Texans. Their quarterbacks targeted Jackson early and often in what was known to be a prove it sort of offseason for the struggling cornerback.

When the Packers drafted Jaire Alexander in round one and Jackson in round two back in 2018, they had dreams of those two becoming a lockdown cornerback duo for years to come. Alexander has delivered and has become one of the best cornerbacks in the entire NFL. Jackson on the other hand, was a healthy scratch from the active roster most of the second half of the season in 2020.

Green Bay gets Yiadom who started 10 games for the Giants last year at corner. The Packers have Alexander, Kevin King and rookie first round pick Eric Stokes holding down the fort atop the depth chart at the cornerback spot. However, Yiadom could see action in certain packages or Green Bay could utilize him on special teams.

Hopefully for Jackson, this is the fresh start he needs to restart his career and for Yiadom, the hope is that there's plenty of opportunity with the Packers for him to show out.
