Once in a while, there comes a story about box breaks that will really leave you either in awe or cluelessly scratching your head. Just recently, the latter happened – a Panini Donruss Optic Rated Rookie card of the New York Giants’ Gary Brightwell being pulled from a sealed Topps pack.

In a video shared by Cardporn, Mikey B Cards was seen ripping a sealed pack of 2021 Bowman Chrome HTA baseball cards. The said pack is a high-end one containing three autographed baseball cards and is selling for $275 on eBay.

The first two cards were revealed to be autographed by Kyle Hurt of the Miami Marlins and Rafael Morel of the Chicago Cubs. While those watching the break online were anticipating a monster card to be pulled last, their expectations quickly turned into something very odd.

As the last card was revealed, it was shown to be Brightwell’s Rated Rookie Holo card from Panini’s latest Donruss Football set. After a few seconds, Mikey, the person behind the break went on camera and explained in detail how the Topps baseball packs were sealed, only to say that this has never happened before in the hobby. He ended the video by questioning how a Panini card made its way into a Topps sealed product.

This incident begs some attention from both Topps and Panini, two companies that have had their fair share of quality control issues. As of this writing, there has been no official statement from these two card manufacturers about the said mishap.

While it’s an isolated incident, as far as the hobby knows, this surprising pull right out of the pack is certainly something collectors will talk about. For sure, it’ll rank up high on the list of weird and intriguing stories coming from box breakers all over the world.
