Kelvin Benjamin made headlines with his recent comments over the weekend about his former team, the Carolina Panthers. The Buffalo Bills wideout was not too complimentary of his stay in Carolina and was particularly critical of quarterback Cam Newton’s accuracy.

But despite the disparaging words from his former teammate, Newton’s response was surprisingly cool and composed. He said he won’t get involved in a back and forth with Benjamin and will instead focus on working.

It was a pretty classy response from Newton, who would’ve been justified had he retaliated to Benjamin’s comments in a more forceful manner. But he instead decided to take the high road and not take on his former teammate in a war of words, which was a wise choice by him.

While Benjamin may have had a point that the Panthers weren’t the best fit for him and that Newton isn’t the most accurate quarterback in the league, it was a bad move on his part to air out his grievances in such a public and crass manner.

But while Benjamin gripes about his past, the Panthers may end up having the last laugh. With Carolina surrounding Cam with more weapons to replace Benjamin this offseason, they have the potential to make the playoffs once again this year.

Meanwhile, Benjamin may end up eating his words and wishing for someone as good as Newton at quarterback as he has the likes of AJ McCarron, Nathan Peterman, and Josh Allen to work with in Buffalo this year.
