The Carolina Panthers are in the midst of a significant rebuild heading into the 2020 NFL season. It appears the rumors surrounding wide receiver Curtis Samuel's potential departure are starting to kick up.

There is some speculation regarding Samuel's uncertain future. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Carolina could look to get a deal done before the 2020 NFL Draft is over:

The Panthers have been open to deals this offseason, and here is a name to watch: WR Curtis Samuel. Teams have been consistently calling about the former 2nd round pick, and we’ll see if they get an offer they can’t refuse over the next two days.

The Panthers selected Samuel in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He struggled to find his footing to start his career due to injuries. However, he was finally able to put together a healthy year after playing in all 16 games during the 2019 campaign and hauling in 54 receptions for 627 yards and six touchdowns while tacking on 19 carries for 130 yards and one touchdown.

Carolina has since opted to usher in some major changes to both their roster and coaching staff. Trading Samuel will give them an opportunity to shore up some draft capital to help kickstart the rebuild. Regardless, it appears teams that are interested will need to find a way to sweeten the pot if they hope to get a deal done over the next two days.

Although Samuel still has yet to build on his potential, his status as a viable, complementary option in the passing game should net some value.
