Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey has been getting a lot of attention on social media this offseason because of his bigger muscles. People have commented on some of his pictures that his guns have suddenly undergone a growth spurt.

But McCaffrey doesn’t get why people are going nuts and taking notice of his appearance when he doesn't think he's changed all that much.

“Everybody's acting like I was tiny last year and now I've had this big growth,” McCaffrey said to Bill Voth of the team's official website. “It's not like I've transformed.”

“I just got 'em out, I guess. I don't know. It might be a tan, I'm not sure.”

Although, McCaffrey did admit that he’s added five pounds of muscle as he’s worked on his core strength, upper body strength and my lower body this offseason with the hope of breaking tackles and reeling off more big runs.

While McCaffrey had a fine rookie season, he didn’t exactly light it up as a runner. He had just 435 rushing yards on a mere 3.7 yards per carry with two touchdowns. He’s obviously keyed in on that as an area of improvement, which is why he’s focused on increasing his strength.

The Panthers brought in C.J. Anderson to replace veteran Jonathan Stewart as the team’s workhorse back while McCaffrey will likely remain more active in the receiving game. But if McCaffrey can up that part of his game, the Panthers’ consistently effective running attack should get that much stronger this season.
