The Carolina Panthers have one of the hottest assets in the NFL right now and that's no other than the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft —  which they got from the Chicago Bears via a trade.

But just because that pick is now in the hands of the Panthers, it doesn't mean other teams can't at least kick the tires on what it would take for Carolina to cough that particular possession up. In any case, no one seems to have even tried calling the Panthers inquiring about a potential trade, according to Carolina general manager Scott Fitterer (h/t Joe Person).

“Fitterer: No teams have called about trading up for the No. 1 pick.”

The Panthers got the pick from the Bears in exchange for the No. 9 and No. 61 overall picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, a second-rounder in the 2025 NFL Draft, and wide receiver DJ Moore.

With the top pick in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft, the Panthers are expected to use use it to select a quarterback. Bryce Young of the Alabama Crimson Tide, CJ Stroud of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Anthony Richardson of the Florida Gators, and Will Levis of the Kentucky Wildcats are all talented quarterback prospects the Panthers can choose from.

At the moment, the Panthers only have Andy Dalton, Matt Corral, and Jaconb Eason as quarterbacks under payroll, none of whom excuses great confidence in the future of the team's offense that averaged just 20.4 points per game in 2022 while mostly playing Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold under center.
