There has been speculation about the future of the Carolina Panthers' quarterback position with how well Kyle Allen has played since Cam Newton has been sidelined due to injury.

The recent status quo will remain as Allen will start in Week 10 while Newton continues to rehab, as Ron Rivera told Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.

The Panthers improved to their record to 5-1 in games that Allen has started as a result of their 30-20 win over the Tennessee Titans. He has recorded 1,291 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns, and four interceptions while completing 60.7 percent of his throws.

The performance that Allen put together against the Titans wasn't typical for a backup quarterback. He began by completing just 4 of his 13 throws resulting in just 72 passing yards and an interception. However, he stayed the course and completed 13 of 19 pass attempts the rest of the way and added 160 passing yards and two passing touchdowns.

The production that Allen has provided hasn't been that of a star quarterback, but he has managed to remain steady while Newton remains sidelined. That's all that a team can really ask for while their former league MVP continues to recover from injury.

It remains unclear who Rivera will ultimately decide to start once Newton is healthy. At the very least, Allen showed the rest of the NFL that he is a capable quarterback.

An upcoming matchup with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in Week 10 should prove to be a great test for Allen and his Panthers teammates.
