The 2019 Carolina Panthers season will all come down to Cam Newton and his health. The Panthers got off to a 6-2 start last season, but they fell apart once Newton's shoulder started acting up. He got shut down with a couple of weeks left, and had another shoulder surgery after the season.

Given his shoulder issues, it would make sense for the Panthers to be very cautious with him in the run-up to the regular season.

Ron Rivera isn't going to coddle him though, as the Panthers' coach announced he intended to play all four of his quarterbacks, including Newton, in the team's first preseason game, according to Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com.

That means Kyle Allen, Taylor Heinicke, and rookie Will Grier will all see time as well. Newton likely won't play too much, probably just a series or two, but the fact that he's playing at all here is notable.

More and more teams are starting to sit their players more in the preseason, especially ones with notable injury histories. Newton has apparently changed his throwing motion this year in order to better protect his shoulder, and if it acts up again then the Panthers' season will quickly be over.

As such, all eyes will be on Newton when the Panthers open the preseason against the Bears in Chicago. If he looks good throwing the ball, a lot of fans will be able to breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Here's to hoping that Newton is able to stay healthy and play a full 16-game season in 2019.
