Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold has officially been diagnosed. Sam Darnold has a fractured scapula. The right shoulder injury will likely lead to Darnold missing several weeks. PJ Walker will take place until Darnold is back.

This is a tough blow for the Panthers. They brought Sam Darnold in this summer to be the quarterback of the future. At first, it looked like Darnold might be the secure starter for the Panthers' future. After starting the season on the right note, Darnold has not looked good at all. He now has more interceptions than he does touchdowns. This has led to the Panthers losing some games. They have lost a few games the past few weeks against beatable teams.

The Panthers just got back star running back Christian McCaffrey. Now with Darnold out, they are going to have to figure something out because their offense isn't going to be run the way that they want it to just yet.

The Panthers are in a difficult situation as they are not a playoff team but they are in too deep of the season to tank the rest of the year away. They could tank the rest of the season and get a decent draft pick. The issue is that it might not be somebody that the Panthers view as an immediate impact.
