The Carolina Panthers continue to search for a long-term solution at the head coach position.

Among the candidates they have in mind, Minnesota Vikings' offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski will interview for the Panthers' head coaching job per Dan Graziano of ESPN.

The time of the interview for the Panthers will depend on whether or not the Vikings advance in the playoffs. Stefanski and the Vikings will square off against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

If Minnesota loses to the Saints, Stefanski is scheduled to partake in his interview with the Panthers next Thursday likely. That could be subject to change if the Vikings upset the Saints on the road.

Over the past couple of seasons, Stefanski has been considered one of the best up-and-coming assistants in the NFL. Since taking over as Minnesota's offensive coordinator, the Vikings' offense is one of the most balanced groups in the league.

Stefanski has been with the Vikings since 2006, beginning as an assistant under Brad Childress. He would then become the team's quarterbacks coach in 2017 and would start to receive attention around the league.

In 2017, Stefanski aided Case Keenum to have the best season of his career with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The following offseason, the New York Giants attempted to lure Stefanski away when they hired Pat Shurmur as their head coach.

To no one's surprise, Minnesota blocked Stefanski's departure, and he would become the interim offensive coordinator in 2018. With his first season as the official offensive coordinator, teams around the NFL are interested in him as a head coach, including the Panthers.

For the Panthers, they want to hire someone who can help groom a young quarterback. Therefore, hiring Stefanski would somewhat make sense for Carolina.
