The New England Patriots defense is off to a quick start against the Seattle Seahawks.

During the first drive of the game with 13:47 left in the first quarter Russell Wilson threw a pass that deflected off of his target and into the hands of McCourty, and the Patriots defensive back proceeded to take it to the house for the pick-six.

This has gotten the Patriots off to a strong start in a big game to see if the new look team is for real.

That the defense is getting off to a hot start is a very good sign for Patriots fans who still expect the team to be a Super Bowl contender even without Tom Brady.

New Patriots starting signal-caller Cam Newton has not had an opportunity to show what he can do against the Seahawks defense yet. While Newton played very well Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, questions still remain on whether he is still the same as the MVP quarterback in Carolina in 2015 or not.

At least the Patriots can rely on their stand-up defense to hold the line against one of the best QBs in the NFL in Wilson.
