New England Patriots linebacker James Harrison had an acrimonious end to his lengthy stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since being signed by the Patriots following his release from Pittsburgh last December, Harrison and some personalities from the Steelers have exchanged barbs that included an accusation that the 39-year-old pass rusher once slept in a recliner during an ongoing meeting.

Most people probably would have denied the charge, but then again, not everyone is James Harrison. According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Harrison sort of admitted that he did doze off in meetings.

“Who hasn’t fell asleep at a meeting,’’ Harrison replied.

Well, perhaps everyone could agree to that. Meetings can be pretty boring, especially to a veteran like Harrison, who has probably heard it all in his over-a-decade stay in the NFL. That said, Harrison did not set a good example for the Steelers’ younger players by getting seen napping during a team gathering.

In any case, Harrison would like to set one thing right with regards to Sleepgate – that he did not fall asleep in a recliner.

“We don’t have recliners so it’s not possible.”

Harrison has found a new home in New England, where he has seen more playing time in just a few games with the Patriots than in his entire tenure in the regular season with the Steelers.

Harrison, who signed a contract that would expire at the end of this season with the Patriots, is eyeing to win his third Super Bowl title in his career. He has won twice before with the Steelers, as part of Pittsburgh teams that emerged victorious in Super Bowl XL and Super Bowl XLIII.
