Longtime New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady shocked the sports world this offseason when he signed a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after spending the last two decades in New England.

However, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick isn't letting Brady's departure force him to lose focus when it comes to next season.

“Water under the bridge,” Belichick said, via multiple reporters. “We’re really focused on this season and trying to look at our opportunities and make decisions and plan and prepare to be as competitive as we can this year.”

Together, Brady and Belichick formed the most formidable QB-head coach duo in NFL history and brought six Super Bowls back together to New England during their shared tenure.

While still posting over 4,000 yards passing, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions last year, it was clear that the 42-year-old Brady took a step back from years prior. Additionally, it has been reported the Belichick and Brady's relationship had soured a bit in the past few seasons.

Going into the 2020 season, the Patriots will now likely have to rely on either 11-year NFL veteran and former Patriot backup Brian Hoyer or 2019 fourth-round pick Jarrett Stidham:

“It’s an interesting group and probably one that has decent depth to it,” Belichick said regarding the current QBs on the roster.

The Patriots also have 12 picks in the upcoming NFL Draft including three third-round picks and could very well select a quarterback prospect to add depth or compete as the starter.

Additionally, free agents like Jameis Winston and Cam Newton are still available if New England wants to go that route.
