The New England Patriots are looking for a tight end. Greg Olsen of the Carolina Panthers might just fit that bill.

It was announced a few days prior that Greg Olsen and the Carolina Panthers would be heading their separate ways. That means that Olsen will be a free agent looking for a new home for the 2020 season.

There have been tons of speculation linking Greg Olsen to the Patriots and the veteran finally responded to those rumors.

While appearing on the Super Bowl LIV broadcast, Greg Olsen responded by saying he's “third in line.” Olsen was referencing the fact that the Patriots are still trying to bring back Rob Gronkowski. It's unclear who's second in line in between Gronkowski and Olsen.

“They're trying to get Gronk back. If they don't get him, I'm like third in line,” Greg Olsen said.

Despite the fact Gronkowski announced his retirement last year, he has left the door open for a possible return. In fact, NESN reported earlier in the week that the 30-year-old could return next season.

“And honestly, I wouldn’t completely rule out Rob Gronkowski returning if Brady comes back. And I know how ridiculous that sounds. I think Brady will need some assurances from the organization to come back to New England. That could include re-signing Danny Amendola or incentivizing Gronkowski to return. Gronkowski said this week he’s only down to 250 pounds and that he could add his weight back on quickly. Just saying, don’t completely, entirely rule it out.”

With all of that said, if Gronkowski doesn't return, Greg Olsen really may be the Patriots' best option at tight end for 2020.
