New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick made another genius move in the selection of Mac Jones as the 15th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The young quarterback immediately made an impact and now, he's widely considered the league's next great signal-caller.

With the 2022 NFL Draft approaching, the Patriots are expected to find another gem. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the team will meet with Alabama wide receiver Slade Bolden on Wednesday.

While this may sound ho-hum to some, it's worth noting that Jones and Bolden were roommates in college. Giving Jones a target he's very familiar with will only bode well for the Patriots. In a report by Heavy, Bolden said he'd love to play alongside his former QB again.

“He’s fun, he’s goofy, he’s fun to be around. You all saw him at the Pro Bowl and how he was acting. That’s how he’s always been. Playing with Mac would be cool. He’s a good friend of mine. We have a good connection. It would be an easy transition for sure, but at the end of the day, whoever gives me an opportunity, I’ll be thankful.”

Bolden, who's not considered a top prospect, reportedly impressed the Patriots at the NFL Combine. It didn't hurt that he said he patterned his game after former Patriots star Julian Edelman.

With the 23-year-old Jones expected to even get better in his sophomore year, having Bolden on the team could make him feel more comfortable. The Patriots own pick nos. 21, 54, 85, 127, and 158 in the first five rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft.
