The return of Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — and to the NFL for that matter — seemed to have altered whatever course running back Leonard Fournette was trying to take, but there remains the possibility that the former LSU tailback ultimately leaving Tampa for another team, which may or may not be the New England Patriots.

Via Field Yates of ESPN:

The Patriots are hosting free agent RB Leonard Fournette on a visit today, per source.

The 27-year old is coming off of the best all around season of his career with 812 rushing yards, 8 rushing TD and 69 catches for 454 yards in 2021.

The Patriots, who failed to advance beyond the AFC Wild Card round in the 2021 NFL season, mostly used a combo of Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson for their needs on the ground, finished the regular season eighth in the league with 124.4 rushing yards per game. If the Patriots land Fournette, he should be able to dominate the running back snaps. After all, he is coming off a solid season in which he had 812 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 180 carries. He also posted two touchdown receptions on 69 receptions and 84 targets.

The Buccaneers probably wouldn't just let Fournette go away that easily, especially with Brady coming back to town hunting for another Super Bowl ring.
