The game against the Indianapolis Colts was not Mac Jones' best game. He was inconsistent throughout and ended up getting benched. For that reason, his future with the New England Patriots is looking bleak.

Jones' accuracy was all over the place and a very under-thrown ball was intercepted in the red zone. Had the ball been more on point, the Patriots very well could have stolen a win away from the Colts.

During the post-game presser, Mac Jones was asked what happened on that particular interception. The Patriots quarterback kept his answer straightforward, according to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe.

“It was a terrible throw.”

At least he's not beating around the bush with his answer. That would probably be a lot worse. He's not sugarcoating what happened on that play, so you have to give Jones some respect for keeping it real.

But the fact he got benched against a mediocre Colts team who couldn't even score more than 10 points isn't a great look. The benching creates speculation of what the Patriots will do at quarterback in their next game. Based on what we've seen so far, Bill Belichick could decide to star Bailey Zappe for the rest of the season.

We'll see how it plays out though. The Patriots look like a bottom three team in the league right now, but there's still plenty of games remaining to get a little run going. Even so, they're not likely making the playoffs.

Keep a lookout for more updates on Mac Jones and the Patriots, as Belichick will monitor the quarterback room throughout the week.
