The free agent market has begun to take shape with many of the top players available have inked new contracts. This has seen several of the running backs in the crop find a new landing spot ahead of the 2018 season.

This has included former New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis choosing to ink a four-year, $_ million deal with the Tennessee Titans. In light of that, the Patriots are scheduled to meet with former Cincinnati Bengals running back Jeremy Hill, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

The 25-year-old is in the free-agent market for the first time in his career after completing his four-year, $3.7 million rookie deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. Hill is coming off the least productive season of his career rushing for just 116 yards and zero touchdowns along with hauling in four catches for 16 receiving yards and zero touchdowns.

His role had significantly diminished due to the emergence of promising rookie running back Joe Mixon, who eventually took over the starting role in the second half of the season. This displaced Hill in a smaller role behind Giovanni Bernard before he was put on season-ending injured reserve in November due to an ankle injury.

Aside from injuries, Jeremy Hill has struggled to play with any level consistency since his breakout rookie campaign where rushed for 1,124 yards and nine touchdowns. His production had continued to decline with each passing year that led to him falling out of favor and Mixon taking over his starting spot.

That said, Hill has plenty offer if the Patriots bring him aboard as he has shown the ability to make big plays in the running game while being a strong goal-line option with 29 touchdowns through his first four seasons. He could step in as the change of pace running back to Rex Burkhead. Things could pick up on both sides over the next couple of days toward working on a deal.
