The San Antonio Spurs were swept for only the third time in the Gregg Popovich era. While his team was largely shorthanded, center Pau Gasol won't undermine the level at which his most recent playoff conqueror, the Golden State Warriors, have played at throughout this season.

“They’re in a groove,” Gasol told Courtney Cronin of the San Jose Mercury News. “They know what it takes to win and obviously they’ve been champions, they’ve established records that have never been set before and they’re on a path to get another championship. In all my years in the league, they’re playing at the highest level right now.”

This is some high praise coming from a two-time NBA champion, who played alongside Kobe Bryant in some of his best seasons.

The 7-footer had his all-around worst season as a player in a much-lesser role under Popovich, but he still managed a respectable 12.4 points and 7.8 rebounds throughout 2016-17.

His form dipped even more during the postseason, managing only 7.7 points and 7.1 rebounds in a diminished 22.8 minutes per game.

The soon-to-be 37-year-old is a 16-year veteran in the league. He has seen plenty of dominant teams and performances, but only time will tell if said dominance can prevail during the NBA Finals come June 1st.
