San Antonio Spurs center Pau Gasol came back to life on Wednesday in a 108-101 win over the Boston Celtics.

The 7-footer posted a 17-point, 13-rebound double-double with six assists, two steals, and a block sprinkled in for good measure. Gasol has been riding a six-game double-digit scoring streak after four consecutive clunkers with nine points or less, followed by a rest day which seems to have made all the difference. The 13 rebounds were a season-high for the San Antonio big man.

Perhaps the most attributable aspect has been his willingness to do one-on-one work with the Big Fundamental himself — Tim Duncan. The two spent time at the Spurs facility working on the Spaniard's high and low-post move set and footwork.

“Tim is the Jedi master of everything,” teammate Danny Green told Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News.

Gasol has been more aggressive on the floor, attempting an average of 11.8 shot attempts through six games in December, much better than his combined 9.2 attempts through the beginning of the season. His assertion of taking the three-point shot with confidence has resulted in an 8-of-13 accuracy on his shots from deep, much sharper than his combined 7-of-20 during the first 18 games.

If Pau Gasol can keep up this level of play, the Spurs should begin to see efforts pay off at both ends of the floor, even more so with someone as dynamic as a center that can score, rebound and pass the ball at a high level.
