Where is Karl-Anthony Towns going to end up this offseason if he does not return to Minnesota? There are a few trade options to make. He recently signed a contract extension last summer, but the Timberwolves could decide that they have had enough and want to go in a different direction and trade Karl-Anthony Towns. The Twin Towers lineup of both him and Rudy Gobert has worked out much better than anyone would have originally thought. There have been issues that have shown up in the playoffs with Towns shooting way too much from the outside and frustrating fans and the team alike by not scoring as much down low. The Timberwolves could also eventually be in a position where they have to choose between Anthony Edwards and Towns and they are going to go with Edwards nine times out of 10. There is no guarantee they move Towns, but this could be a blockbuster move in the making this summer.

Karl-Anthony Towns next team odds via BetOnline:

New Orleans Pelicans (+300):

The Pelicans are expected to be active this offseason in the free agency market and on the trade market. They are going to have assets to move from picks to some rumors that they are even looking at Brandon Ingram as an asset to trade away in a deal for a star. If that happens, then a Karl-Anthony Towns deal is on the table. He would be an improvement over Jonas Valanciunas down low and would be a younger option too. Sooner than later, the Pelicans are going to have to pick between Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, and if that is this summer their offseason gets turned up a notch. That would clear the way for a move for Towns or any other piece.

Orlando Magic (+400):

The Magic broke through this season with their young core of players, led by Paolo Banchero. They are one of the younger teams in the NBA and because of that, they have the cap space necessary to bundle some players for Karl-Anthony Towns. They also have draft picks as well if they want to get aggressive and make a big trade. The Magic do not have any player down low that is on the level of Karl-Anthony Towns, so if they added him, then he instantly make the team that much better. They need more help down low across the board, so this could be an interesting move if it made sense.

Oklahoma City Thunder (+500):

The Thunder are in one of the best positions in the NBA. They have picks galore and a young core group of players that helped them get to the top seed in the West. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams are emerging, so a move like this could push them over the top. The Thunder have the assets with all their picks and with their youth, they have the cap space to make a move like this work. This is an interesting move to make a young team, potentially even better than what they were this past season.

Where is the best fit for Karl-Anthony Towns?

The best fit overall for Karl-Anthony Towns if the Timberwolves decide to trade him would be the Pelicans. This trade seems dependent on what happens in the playoffs, but the Pelicans make the most sense all around. They have picks and can trade Brandon Ingram away or toss in a few other players too. They have the flexibility with assets and Towns would instantly improve the Pelicans down low because he is more skilled, more talented, and younger than Jonas Valanciunas. He would add a different dimension to the Pelicans and would be an interesting fit.
