The New Orleans Pelicans lost a tough battle on Saturday night against the Houston Rockets, and there were some questionable calls down the stretch that might have contributed to the Pelicans losing the game. At least, that's how head coach Alvin Gentry views the situation.

After the game, Gentry didn't mince his words when talking about how bad he thought the officiating was.

“You can't guess on plays when you have teams playing for playoff spots. You can't guess on the foul. When a guys got his hands on his chest and you call a 3-point shot, that's not right, that's not correct, that's not the way you do it.”

“Then you give them the ball back when you undercut a player, that's not right, that's not correct. that's not the way you call the game. Then you get a technical foul for walking away from a guy, this league has changed. I walked away from him so I wouldn't get the technical.”

That was a big game for the Pelicans as they try and fight for one of the final playoff spots in the Western Conference.

The loss drops them to a record of 39-30 and although they sit in the seventh spot in the standings, if the Spurs win their game Saturday they will drop into the eighth place in the standings.

The Pelicans' next game will be on Sunday against the Boston Celtics, and they really can't afford to lose that game or they will be in some trouble in the standings.
