Oft-injured New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis is hurt – again. A day after getting his first career ejection, Davis was taken out of the game Friday, albeit due to a completely different reason and one that we’ve grown familiar with.

The Pelicans power forward went down with an apparent lower-body injury early in the fourth quarter of Friday’s 114-108 road loss to the Utah Jazz. He needed assistance as he limped into the dugout and did not return to finish the contest. He left the game having contributed 19 points and 10 rebounds in 32 minutes of action.

Anthony Davis has already missed a game earlier this season due to a concussion, but the injury he sustained on Friday looks like it’s going to need more than a one-game absence to heal.

While there is no official word yet with regards to the extent of Davis’ injury, the former Kentucky Wildcat seems unlikely to suit up Saturday when the Pelicans take on the Portland Trail Blazers.

On the season, Anthony Davis is averaging 25.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Omer Asik and Dante Cunningham are each going to get bumps in their minutes in the event that Davis would be declared out.
