New Orleans Pelicans talisman Anthony Davis suffered a concussion only a minute into the third quarter against of Friday night's outing against the Denver Nuggets, according to the team.

Davis was inadvertently hit in the face, clashing with center Nikola Jokic's head, as the Nuggets center was backing him down with his back to the basket.

“I don't want (anybody) to get injured because of me,” Jokic said, according to The Associated Press. “I hope he's good. I didn't do it on purpose.”

Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry couldn't provide any details of Davis' injury after the game, after he played 17 minutes — totaling 17 points and five rebounds in his 21-minute outing on the floor.

“I don't know yet,” Gentry said. “I have to check with doctors.”

The Pelicans went down to a sizzling Nuggets team that pulled off an 82-point second half while holding New Orleans to 58, striding to a 146-114 rout.

Davis will have to go through the league's concussion protocol now that he was diagnosed with the injury, which include checks in the very next morning, going through a full practice and getting the full clearance from a doctor ahead of his return.

The Unibrow's 17 points before leaving the game were enough to lead the team as fellow big man DeMarcus Cousins had only 14 points while the newly-assembled backcourt of Rajon Rondo and Jrue Holiday had 13 apiece.
