Lonzo Ball indeed references the Los Angeles Lakers in the first track of “50&30,” the mixtape he released on Thursday. After so much talk of him dissing his former team in the hook of the song “Last Days,” the New Orleans Pelicans guard took to social media to set the record straight.

“I’m not dissing anybody I loved my time in LA. I use my music as an outlet to express things that happen in my life #50and30 out now! Let me know y’all favorite track,” he wrote on Twitter.

Ball's second mixtape opens with a refrain invoking the Lakers, who he raps are “going to regret their decision.” Ball, of course, was traded from Los Angeles to New Orleans in June along with Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks in exchange for superstar big man Anthony Davis, who had previously requested a trade to the Lakers. Davis is represented by Klutch Sports' Rich Paul, a longtime friend, confidante, and business partner of LeBron James.

It bears reminding that Ball has mostly stayed mum on his time with the Lakers since being traded. He's also been friendly with his former teammates in public and on social media, including James and Kyle Kuzma.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 draft, the UCLA product struggled to live up to expectations with Los Angeles, beset by his labors from three-point range and inability to finish at the rim. He figures to start in New Orleans' backcourt alongside Jrue Holiday this season, helping one of the league's most exciting young teams push the pace, move the ball, and pressure opposing ball handlers.
