New Orleans Pelicans big man Zion Williamson is about to enter his second season atop the highest level with his first taste of NBA action beginning and ending on some less than stellar notes. With Williamson initially encountering some lingering injury trouble that severely delayed his eventual NBA debut in 2019-20, the Pelicans were then officially ousted from playoff contention down in Orlando during the NBA restart.

Now that Williamson is fully healthy once again with the NBA slated to pick back up for the upcoming 2020-21 campaign later this month, it appears as though the soon-to-be second year forward is pretty excited about the Pelicans this time around. Not only that, but Williamson appears ready to excel thanks the “old-school” style of new head coach Stan Van Gundy.

Here's Zion talking up the methods of his new coach, via NBA on Twitter:

After a few years away from the game, the former Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons head coach has returned to the fold to lead Williamson and the up-and-coming Pelicans. In addition to the services of the always dominant Williamson, which is definitely a great place to start, the Pelicans have a slew of talented players for Van Gundy to work with including point guard Lonzo Ball and forward Brandon Ingram.

Williamson was originally selected by the Pelicans with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Duke. Spending just one season with the Blue Devils before jumping up to the NBA level, the young phenom could allow Van Gundy to keep the Pelicans in the mix for a postseason spot in the Western Conference this time around.
