Star golfer Bryson DeChambeau recently had surgery on his left wrist. His status for the PGA Championship at Southern Hills is now in question following the surgery. However, the oddly specific reasoning for the injury seems almost made-up. DeChambeau  explained how and where the injury occurred.

“And then playing ping pong in Saudi, I slipped on the floor. It’s my own fault, I was being dumb playing against Sergio [Garcia] and Joaquin [Neimann], and they saw me Charlie Brown on the floor. I landed right on my hand. It hurt really bad, and I tore the labrum in my hip too because of how hard I fell on my hip and hand.”

Ouch. Bryson DeChambeau may need to be forced to miss one of the biggest PGA tournaments of the year due to a painful table tennis injury where he pulled a “Charlie Brown on the floor.” He also said that he has tried to play through the ailment.

“I made attempts to play through this injury at three recent events, including the Masters, but this is typically an injury that requires surgical treatment.”

It is an extremely unfortunate circumstance for Bryson DeChambeau. The 28-year old has emerged as one of the most entertaining golfers in the sport due to his comically long drives. He will be missed at the PGA Championship if he is indeed forced to miss it.

It is certainly safe to say that DeChambeau may take some time away from table tennis once his injury is fully healed.
