Many golf fans wouldn't have been surprised if Tiger Woods mailed it in on Friday during the PGA Championship. The legendary golfer looked visibly pained all throughout the day, his leg clearly bothering him. As he sat below the cut line, many were wondering whether this was it for Woods' 2022 PGA run.

Oh, how naive we were. Facing some of the toughest adversity of his career, Tiger Woods battled his way back into the competition. He'd claw from the deficit he found himself in, and eventually made the threshold to play in the weekend. After his incredible PGA Championship performance, Woods was clearly locked in. “I’m just thinking about shooting a number like Bubba did today.”

Woods also answered questions as to why he fought as hard as he did today in the PGA Championship.

“I've won tournaments — not major championships, but I've won tournaments on the cut number,” Woods said. “There's a reason why you fight hard and you're able to give yourself a chance on the weekend. You just never know when you might get hot.”

It was a gutsy performance from a guy that is well-known for his tenacity. A few years removed from a life-threatening car crash, Woods has just returned to action six months prior. During Friday's edition of the PGA Championship, it seemed like a couple of his old injuries resurfaced. Woods hobbled and winced on the field, but not once did he give up.

Now, Woods has a chance at winning the PGA Championship. It might be a long shot, but as the legend himself said, “you just never know when you might get hot”.
