It was a tough battle at TPC River Highlands for the Travelers Championship, and the protesters who disrupted the event did not make it any easier. Tom Kim was about to do the unexpected and chase down Scottie Scheffler for the championship.

But the PGA Tour superstar was just a stroke ahead of everyone, which led to his eventual victory. The South Korean may have failed, but Bennett and Meredith Scheffler were there to comfort him, via NUCLR GOLF.

“Tom, I'm so proud of you. Say ‘I love Uncle Tom.' It was hard to know who to cheer for. Love you, proud of you,” Meredith Scheffler said.

Tom Kim was in striking distance the whole time to beat Scottie Scheffler for the Travelers Championship. However, two big blunders cost him the title.

One of them was on the 16th green where his frustrated putt missed the cup. Another was the 17th, where a birdie would have gotten him closer to beating Scheffler. But he ended up missing that shot, which meant that Kim was behind Scheffler on the last hole.

Kim's luck then changed at the Travelers Championship. He ended up sinking a birdie on the 18th to tie it all up for a playoff between him and Scheffler. Unfortunately, bad luck struck Kim's stroke in the playoff when his shot hit the greenside bunker.

There was still a chance for him to hit par, but it was just not meant to be. The result of the playoff? Scheffler finished him off with four strokes while Kim ended up with five strokes.

It was a tough outing for the South Korean, but he did put up a valiant effort unlike any other. To put it into perspective, only he and Scottie Scheffler finished with a 22-under. PGA Tour stars like Tom Hoge, Im Sung-Jae, Akshay Bhatia, Patrick Cantlay, and Justin Thomas finished with a 20-under or an 18-under at the Travelers Championship.

It is safe to say that Meredith Scheffler is not the only one impressed with how Kim managed to get close to Scottie. Everyone who watches the PGA Tour found a newfound appreciation for the 22-year-old.

Scottie Scheffler now has six wins before July, which puts him next to Arnold Palmer as the only individual to have ever done it. But that was not the first thing he talked about after the Travelers Championship win. Instead, he had to outline his feelings after sharing a playoff with Kim, via NBC Sports.

“It’s fun competing against your friends. But at the same time, it’s difficult because part of me wants him to miss the putt and part of me wants him to make the putt. He should remember that putt he made on 18 because it was pretty special. He’s a great player and a great champion,” Scheffler declared.

The South Korean prodigy returned the favor and gave nothing but love to him despite the crushing defeat.

“Obviously, he’s a phenomenal player, world No. 1, all those titles. But at the same time for me, he’s just Scottie Scheffler. He’s just a good friend. To come down with someone that I play a lot of golf with, who beats me a lot at home- unfortunately, he beat me in the playoff too. It definitely made it a lot more enjoyable out there,” Kim concluded.

These two are going to have more battles inside and outside the PGA tour. It's going to be phenomenal.
