With Kevin Durant‘s departure from OKC, many critics and fans around the league have put their two cents in on this controversial trade. Whether you like it or not, KD has signed that dotted line and will play along side the young talented elites in California.

But when it comes to Knicks' president Phil Jackson, super team building hasn't always panned out that well.

“When all this settles down we’ll see how it happens. It’s a very interesting, compelling team that Golden State’s put together,” commented Phil Jackson. “I was part of a team that did this in 2004 with the addition of Karl Malone and Gary Payton along with Shaq and Kobe, etc. It was looked on as accumulating a lot of stars.”

This 2004 super team may have been some years older than the GSW of today, but their talents still resonated on the floor. They made it to the playoffs and fought their way to the finals, only to be disappointed in the end.

“It didn't work out for us (they lost in the Finals to the Pistons) because we had the injuries as we were going forward. But those things happen. And it’s not the first time,” remarked Jackson. “The first time might have been when Wilt Chamberlain was traded to Los Angeles and they had Jerry West and Elgin Baylor. And everybody said how are we going to beat that team and the Knicks came back and beat them that next year and Boston beat them the year before. So it doesn’t guarantee a championship. It does guarantee a team that’s to be watched.”

Many basketball fans will indeed keep an eye on how the Warriors do this coming season. Rocking arguably the scariest line-up in NBA history, viewers will anticipate another successful campaign for the Warriors.
