The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly scheduled to meet with each of the top-tier free agent shortstops, per The Athletic's Jayson Stark. Trea Turner, Carlos Correa, Xander Bogaerts, and Dansby Swanson are all set to earn lucrative contracts this offseason. Turner has been listed as Philadelphia's primary free agency choice, but the Phillies have been linked to each of the aforementioned shortstops.

The Phillies reached the World Series in 2022. However, they did it without a truly proven option at shortstop. It should be noted that Philadelphia is looking to upgrade at other positions as well. And with Bryce Harper expected to miss half the season, they will be in the outfield/DH conversation. But shortstop is clearly a position they want to improve by adding a star.

Trea Turner is arguably the best available option. He provides steady power to go along with strong defense and blazing speed. Turner also has experience in the NL East, as he began his career in Washington with the Nationals.

Carlos Correa is the most powerful shortstop alternative. However, the Phillies' already feature plenty of pop with Kyle Schwarber, Nick Castellanos, and Rhys Hoskins in the lineup. But Correa is a talented defender as well.

Dansby Swanson has been known as one of the Phillies' rivals over the past few years. Many people around the league believe Swanson will ultimately return to the Atlanta Braves. But a Swanson-Phillies contract is not out of the question.

And finally, Xander Bogaerts is a legitimate candidate for Philadelphia. He is a terrific hitter and solid defender at shortstop.

The odds of the Phillies signing at least one of these 4 shortstops are high without question.
