When the Philadelphia Eagles signed Trea Turner during the offseason, they were expecting to get one of the best and most consistent bats in the league. Turner was one of the best shortstops in the league, after all, with his combination of speed and hitting near-unmatched. However, his first few months in Philly was a nightmare. The star shortstop struggled to hit the broad side of the barn during his early days with his new team.

Over the last few weeks, though, Turner has slowly but surely started to resemble the player that the Phillies were hoping to get. This June, Turner is hitting .288 with two HRs and six RBIs. It's still a work in progress, but the star shortstop is feeling himself again. During his slump, though, everyone was against Turner… even his own mom, per Bob Nightengale.

“Even my mom says she was booing me… I don’t know what it was. I had already made a decent amount of money, so it wasn’t a money thing. I’ve played on playoff teams. I’ve played in big markets. Personally, I think getting traded is harder than free agency.”

This isn't even the first time Turner has been traded. Before playing for the Dodgers, Turner was part of the Nationals squad that won the World Series in 2019. However, not all trades are the same. Perhaps there was something about the trade to the Phillies that rocked Turner's mindset a little bit.

In any case, the Phillies are hoping that this string of good hitting from Trea Turner continues. Philadelphia's resurgence in the middle of the season coincides with Turner's great hitting stretch. Can he keep this up?
