The Detroit Pistons got great news when it was announced that forward Blake Griffin and guard Reggie Jackson have been cleared to participate in the Pistons' third preseason game on Monday, per Ansar Khan of mlive.com.

Both players had been held out the past two contests, Jackson for an ankle injury and Griffin for precautionary reasons.

It will be a rare sight to see the trio of Griffin, Jackson, and Andre Drummond on the floor together. The top three players for the Pistons only shared the floor in a total of four games during the 2017-18 regular season.

Jackson sprained his ankle against the Pacers in late December of last year, and the injury has continued to nag him. Meanwhile, Griffin suffered an ankle injury of his own against the Lakers during the closing stretch of the regular season and was forced to miss the Pistons' last eight games.

Pistons head coach Dwayne Casey is still wary of playing his best players heavy minutes in a preseason game, saying:

“We want to get them as many (minutes) as we can, but we also want to be smart, too. That's the tightrope you walk when bringing injured players back — you don't want to overdo it, but you definitely don't want to underdo it. But when they're out there on the floor they got to play. If they're cleared to play, they got to lay it on the line, which they have been.”

Casey is in a tough situation because both of the players are integral to the team, and he needs to get them in game shape, but he can't push them too hard in the preseason.

Without Griffin or Jackson, the Pistons struggled mightily. The team failed to reach the playoffs for the second straight season, even after going all in and acquiring a five-time NBA All-Star in Griffin and playing in a weak Eastern Conference.

The Nets game will give viewers a good insight into just how healthy the duo is and if they are on their way to leading the Pistons back to a winning record.
