Detroit Pistons star point guard Derrick Rose and former NBA floor general Rod Strickland are two of the best finishers at the rim in NBA history from the guard position.

However, that's not why Rose reminds Strickland of himself.

On the latest episode of Heavy Live with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Strickland said both he and Rose were never comfortable in the limelight and just wanted to play basketball. The man they used to call “Hot Rod” told Robinson that Rose is one of the most humble superstars he has ever been around.

Strickland went on to say that it's neat how Rose has become more comfortable speaking in public. The youngest MVP in NBA history came out with a documentary in 2019 and also released an autobiography.

As he has gotten older and more mature, Derrick Rose has grown comfortable in his own skin and now has no problem speaking to the media and embracing his fame. It's something Rod Strickland is happy to see since the two are close friends.

During the 2019-20 season, Rose averaged 18.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game for the Pistons while shooting 49.0 percent from the field, 30.6 percent from beyond the arc and 87.1 percent from the free-throw line.

The 18.1 points are the most Rose has averaged in a season since he tore his ACL in the 2012 playoffs with the Chicago Bulls.

Strickland, who is Brooklyn Nets All-Star Kyrie Irving's godfather, finished his NBA career with averages of 13.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 7.3 assists.
