Detroit Pistons veteran point guard Derrick Rose had another outstanding performance on Saturday, as he led his squad to an easy blowout victory against the Atlanta Hawks, 136-103. Rose ended up with a game-high 27 points on 12-of-17 shooting, along with two rebounds, nine assists, and a steal in just 26 minutes of action.

This has pretty much been the theme for Rose all season long, which has left quite an impression on teammate Markieff Morris. Morris even believes that this season's Derrick Rose is reminiscent of the Derrick Rose who won some nine years ago:

“I told him the other day, he’s looking like his MVP season,” Markieff Morris said after Rose’s night in Atlanta, via NBA.com. “He’s quick, he’s making great decisions on the ball, he can play either off the bench or starter. He’s scoring at a high level. He’s leading this team.”

That's a pretty bold claim from Morris, especially considering how many hurdles Rose has had to overcome over the past few years. Nonetheless, with the three-time All-Star averaging 18.3 points (on a career-best 50.3 percent shooting), 2.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists, it would be safe to say that Morris actually has a bit of a point here.

Right now, the Pistons are only 16-27, but they are still just three games outside the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. Detroit might just have an off chance of making the cut, but it is without question that Rose will need to continue playing at an elite level if he hopes to help his team make an unexpected postseason run.

Of course, there's also the chance Derrick Rose gets traded elsewhere, so he might wind up helping some other team in the playoffs. Either way, the veteran point guard be looking to shine in the postseason somewhere.
