The Detroit Pistons came out of the gate after the All-Star break red hot, but the team has cooled off of late. Detroit is currently riding a two-game losing skid, and their position as the #6 seed in the Eastern Conference was recently given up due to the continued good play of the Brooklyn Nets. Tonight, the Pistons are facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers, who are suffering through a highly publicized season that will likely be regarded as a spectacular failure once it reaches its conclusion. During the game, Detroit’s best player Blake Griffin completely fooled the Lakers’ defense with this slick between-the-legs dribble after a fake dribble hand-off, leading to a stunningly wide-open three-pointer:

It’s wild to think about how much Griffin’s game has changed since he rocketed out of Oklahoma as one of the greatest dunkers of his generation.

Though Griffin’s athleticism has waned in recent years due to years of pogo-stick jams and jumping over cars, Griffin is still and extremely effective player – enough so that he was named to the All-Star team this season in the Eastern Conference.

Griffin is using a vastly improved jump shot as well as his exceptional passing ability at his size to try and carry the Pistons to the Playoffs. If he can continue to produce moves like the one above, there’s a good chance he’ll succeed.
